"Everything In Its Right Place" - Fringe.

From Fox

Grade: B+

The human aspect is never forgotten on Fringe. What makes the series so interesting is that it takes the time to develop its characters like it does its stories. In what has been an almost complete character flesh out with Season 4 was that of Lincoln Lee. ”Everything In Its Right Place” not only brings about the backstory of Lincoln in a unique way of comparing himself to the other Lincoln & how their paths diverged but we get to see how that development has affected the Lincoln we see on screen. The case of the week lends itself spectacularly to the story of Lincoln & just like the origins of the new shapeshifters we see the origin of Lincoln & their attempts to hold onto the past.

After all that has unfolded in the prime universe, Lincoln’s pangs of the heart dealing with Olivia are causing him to drift again. Much like the story of his charm band, Lincoln is growing weary of the precarious situation he has been placed in with the appearance of Peter Bishop. He decides to take Astrids busy work of relaying all of the David Jones information to the Red Universe & head there himself. Upon his arrival his main task is set aside as a case begins to unfold. Lincoln soon believes that they are dealing with a shapeshifter & while shapeshifter Broyles tries to send him packing, the other Lincoln & Fauxlivia decide to continue running with his theory. Much of the time Lincoln spends with the other Fringe Division the more he digs into the past of his other self in the Red Reality.

The rhythm that Seth Gable creates when he interacts with himself are probably the strongest parts of the episode. From just the different manner they each Lincoln holds himself is very captivating to watch. Much like the quite focus & emotion that Gable is able to evoke in previous episodes like ”A Short Story About Love” are present throughout & bring a real sense of life & worth to a character that has only been a side up until season 4 & especially recently. The rest of the episode as well doesn’t just skip out with a basic story & adds some major development to the David Jones troubles as well but it also makes the case that those developments are not the point of ”Everything In Its Right Place.” While those developments are important it’s the development of Lincoln Lee that the episode really makes the case for being interesting to see.
