”Los Ciegos” sees
The River improve in its story & scope but not by much but compared to
”Marbeley” there is at least some hope again for the story. As the crew continues down the Amazon river they review more footage of Emmet’s journey & actually find a reason to venture off in the jungle. Of course there is no real reason to besides understanding but this is course turns bad for out team as they all start to go blind & become the hunted of the mythical Morcego as warned to them by, of course, Jahel. What
”Los Ciegos” really accomplishes is a look into the psyche’s of each of team & the unexpected hero of cameraman AJ.
The River is all about the search for Emmet Cole & the magic that this part of the Amazon River holds. Thankfully this episode continues that search, really though its all for naught but not like the waste of time like last week, & definitely involves some weird happenings centered around a sacred cave, a warrior race, & a legendary tree. While most of the crew is struck with blindness what we really get to see is wise cracking cameraman AJ getting to crack wise through the episode & save the day. We also get some backstory to the character that really just lends itself to the importance of the episode.
Weighing out episodes tends to become harder the short a series is. It is still television & not a movie so putting proper weight on where arc storyline lies & just what mythology to expand on is always a challenge. While
”Marbeley” stumbled in setting up an original story that also expanded the myth & story the series was able to rebound with a proper story that conveyed just enough while presenting a myth that was very interesting.
