"Addicted to Love" - Being Human.

From SyFy

Grade: A-

Its in the title this week for Being Human as every one of our monstrous heroes faces their own problems with their addictions to love. From Aiden & Suren to Josh & Nora to Sally & possession it is clear this week that every one of our flawed characters just cant stop feeding their problems. What makes ”Addicted to Love” work so well is the way it makes our characters face these problems by shoving them head first into horrible situations. While the season has had a natural ebb & flow to its episodes it’s clear that as the season comes closer towards its end it is building up for a big explosion with all these problems they seem to be facing.

It’s become pretty obvious that Aiden has started to go out of control with Suren but what ”Addicted to Love’ really pulls off is showing is just why Aiden is so crazed. Yes, we know that Aiden’s ‘son’ Henry had an affair with Suren but here we learn a bit more of how much a scumbag Henry was all while finding out that he has been the one to take in & help the Orphans survive since their abandonment brought on by Mother. As well, we watch Sally go deeper into possessing a girl named Janet until she finds herself stuck. This of course dose not bode well as while she is stuck she also continues to find herself being hunted & in the end we finally learn that it is by a reaper. Meanwhile Josh is still dealing with Nora & things only seem to get worse as her abusive ex Will shows up. Josh here really falls in the flawed hero archetype as he really just wants to do what’s best for Nora & is persuaded by the twins to act foolishly. Of course the twins use this to lure Nora away from Josh & during that nights full moon we see that Nora has decided to act upon her wolf instincts & kill Will with the twins.

What brings the story together & really brings great episodes of Being Human together are the endings. Each opening presents us with a character & a set up of just what we are dealing with but the end of a great episode is just a song & this time its “Skin & Bones” by David J. Roch. What is amazing is the fact that the title says it all just as the repeating lyrics do at the end of the episode. That is all our characters are, sort of...Sally is just an apparition, but it really is just saying that these characters no matter how hard they try are alone. This is best exemplified as Josh wakes up alone & Nora is not in the storage next to him. Instead, we find her waking up in the field with her new pack. Our three heroes in the end are alone even though they try very hard not to be.
