It looks like
Alcatraz finally decided to throw us a bone with the reappearance of head guard Guy Hastings & just what he has been up to since he disappeared. Not only does
”Guy Hastings” offer a nice change of pace but it also packs a bit of emotion in a somewhat very revealing episode. While the mystery is still high & seemingly even juicier since
”Kit Nelson” we do get a step taken back into just what seems to be going through the mind of our reappeared guests that are not just the prison inmates.
As the team of Doc & Rebecca continue to stay out in the dark it is becoming more & more obvious that they are looking into reasons for just why they have been picked by Hauser to be on his team. This holds especially true for Rebecca who has ties to Tommy Madsen, a reappeared & still on the run inmate. While Guy’s appearance seems to at first settle a debt with Rebecca’s friend & caretaker as a youth, Ray Archer. As the episode evolves we see that Ray was a guard at the rock & brought up by Guy during his time there. We soon learn that Ray’s arrival there isn’t just to bee a guard but to watch over Tommy & upon their first interaction it is clear that Tommy does not want Guy there & as the episodes continues we see that this reason has much more to do with what exactly is they are doing with Tommy. With Guy’s arrival we find that he is on a search for Tommy & ends up going through Ray to get to him. Seemingly it’s like Ray is trying to take Guy on a wild goose chase in hopes that Rebecca will find them.
”Guy Hastings” also proves its pivotal worth in the series mythos as it seems that Tommy’s reappearances is not only important to Hauser’s team but also to the reappearing group who are also after him. The episode as well gives us a great look at how time has passed for our returning group not seen since pilot with reappeared inmate Jack Sylvane. Hastings whole life has passed him by & Emerson is able to show him a little bit of heart and camaraderie by taking Guy to observe his daughter & her family now which also includes grandkids, great grandchildren for him.
Alcatraz is continuing to prove that it has a lot of tricks up its sleeve & is not in any hurry to reveal how everything works much to the benefit of the viewer.
