Pop news to go with your well rounded breakfast.
90s nostalgia love keeps raining down upon us with news that Tales From the Crypt is returning to boob tube. This time though it will focus on the comic book series and its characters according to its resuscitators Andrew Cosby, creator of Eureka, and Gil Adler, the original show's producer. Like everyone I am guessing, as long as there is the crypt keeper in addition to the comics three others than I will be happy. (Deadline)
Allfather tastemaker of things that go bump in the night, Ann Rice, has declared earth shattering news. Werewolves are now in! According, at least, to her new book, The Wolf Gift, which shifts her former focus on vampires to the lycanthrope. The upcoming book will focus on a young man who becomes a werewolf. Someone dare say that this is not the most genius original story a werewolf has had in ages. All we need to do is just never know that her sister, Alice Borchardt, wrote about the lycans for years. (MTV Geek News)
Right now we are witnessing some great history as well. Currently the Rotten Tomatoes score for the upcoming semi-live adaptation of the Smurfs, The Smurfs, is sitting at a nice and comfortable 0%, from the five people who have jeered it. I just hope no one else decides to review the film and its score becomes set in tomato paste. (The Vulture)
Quizmaster god Alex Trebek is hurt! Thankfully it is not life threatening and just really badass. Turns out someone got into his hotel room and tried making off with some of his cash and a watch around 2:30am. Trebec would have no such thing and chased after the burglar but in the process snapped his 71-year-old Achilles tendon. (ABC)
Finally, the awesome trolls on Buzzfeed decided to do a solid for all those reveling in the enjoyment of The 90's Are All That, the nostalgic nightly block on Nickelodeon brought about by us clamoring 20-somethings. They assembled a supercut of awesome 90's commercials for us to play when Pete & Pete or Clarissa Explains It All go on break. As usual hit the jump to watch the awesomeness that were 90's commercials.
